Bonjour, mon amis! (Hello, my friends!) Today is day 1 of the Paris bucket list trip, and mainly a travel day. I'm currently in the airport and people watching while I wait for my flight. I'm going from CLT - BOS - CDG. Should reach Paris about 2am CLT time, or 8am Paris time.
Observation #1: Today was my first time going through TSA pre-check. I usually hate spending money on things like that, but after this first time I'll never go back. $80 for 5yrs, and it's so worth it. You skip the regular security line, don't have to take off your shoes, don't have to take your toiletries or computer out of your bag, I was through security in about 5 minutes instead of the usual 20-30. Also, a lots of the travel credit cards offer a credit if you get Pre-Check.
Observation #2: A number of travel sites I've read recommend bringing a bag of candy or treats for the flight crew. I'm debating doing this between BOS - CDG. Sometimes it gets you a smile, sometimes it gets you a few extras. Regardless, might be a nice thing to do. Has anyone done this before? You know I'm about to stop a random FA to ask if this happens...... :)
Observation #3: (for all my French classmates - and professor! - who might be reading this) I've got my language flashcards in my bag, and plan to practice while I'm on the plane. I'm also practicing phrases I may need to use while I'm there. Can't wait to see how it goes!
If I get any good stories between now and tomorrow, I'll update. For now, see y'all in Boston!
