Day #5 Monaco and Monte-Carlo

 Reminders to self:

1. The French Riviera is built into the French Alps, so hills are to be expected. My calves will thank me later, but not now.

2. It's fun to people watch with a glass of wine and an outdoor seat

3. Be kind to people, and most of the time they'll be kind back.

4. I come from a family where someone (who will remain nameless) may have crawled into the backseat of a car while on a winding mountain road to flip off a driver behind them who was tailgating too closely. I am not allowed to do the same.....

5. You don't have to do it all, but you do have to do enough so you don't have regrets later.

6. There will always be someone with more money, better clothes, and even more chocolate or croissants than you (I mean dang, these shop windows!). Sit back and enjoy the ride.

......and now, photos!

In front of the Casino Monte Carlo. We made it into the lobby, but not into the casino itself. Can buy lottery tickets at home. Ruth is behind me - hoot to hang out with!

Consignment shopping in Monte Carlo. Yes, I had fun. If you know the bag, you know. :)

I posted the picture above on Facebook, and immediately got a message from my mother asking "Do you have a security guard following you around while you're carrying that bag?!?!?" So, I asked one of the security members at the Casino to take a picture with me. He was happy to oblige, and even put on his "serious mean" face just for the picture.

What was in the bag: Hermes bag and Dior scarf. I love consignment - at least half off, and you don't play the luxury store game for quality goods.

Someone explain to me the name of the store (please), because the grammar is driving me up the wall.....

The Casino Monte Carlo

Nothing fancy, I just loved this guy. In someone's office window....

Pictures of the harbor. The size of the boats is unreal. If you've seen Below Deck (Bravo), think bigger.

The ladies: Myself (Charlotte), Caroline (Vancouver), Ruth (Pittsburgh), Paula (Albany), Jill and Terri (Wichita)

I mean, really. The boats!

More pictures from the ride up. This big bus on these tiny mountain roads.....I'm glad there was a good view!

Nothing big, I just liked the framing of the picture.

OOTD. I laughed at myself so hard this morning. Cardigan, or too hot for cardigan? Big scarf or no? Little scarf? Are my shoes ok, or will they deny my entrance into the casino? Problems of the Riviera, I tell you......  :)

  1. The name Your’s is interesting but grammatically odd! In Monaco, grammar is optional but style is mandatory!

Day #8 St Paul de Vence and Farewell Dinner

It's the last day! Today we went to St Paul de Vence and had our Farewell Dinner. The highlights....  St Paul de Vence is a walled city...
